Next week we will begin MAPS testing in the computer lab. The test will give us some feedback in the areas of math and reading. There is not a great deal of stock held in these initial tests for K kids, because for most children the computer and mouse are still new. Getting 25 children started with headphones in the lab has been comical at times, so we will be patient as we learn.
Thank you for getting items in for our Arts and Crafts Basket. If you would like more tickets to sell($1 per ticket), please send me a note in your child's B.E.E. folder and I will send home another sheet.
This week we are working on the sight words: I, can, we. Our letter this week was Mm and next week it will be Aa. Please work on number recognition with your child to 10. I am not so concerned with the writing of the numbers, but several of us need a bit more practice recognizing which number is which.
Our S.M.A.R.T. room is up and running. We will try to get in there tomorrow for a few minutes. Stop in and take a peek during the Book Fair next week. You will wish you were in kindergarten all over again. I can't wait to show your children! They are going to LOVE it!
You are invited next Thursday, Sept 27 to the McKinley Book Fair from 5-7. The PTO and K teachers will be serving pizza (free will donation), Clifford will be here for photos and book signing if your child would like to bring a Clifford book that night, and of course the book fair will be open for you to do some shopping. Hope to see you all there!
Please visit our blog (mrsschoenecks.blogspot.com) to see what we have been busy with this week. I try to post a few pictures each day to keep you informed and spark conversation with your child about his or her day.
Blessings on your weekend!
Mrs. Schoeneck
